Thank you, Zoe. I just let you know I was quoting around 5 people about laser source. There were cheaper offers but I choose you in the end. I like your company especially the service.

Laser Welding vs Conventional Welding
traditional welding
Traditional welding is mainly divided into three types: TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding, MIG (metal inert gas) welding and spot welding. TIG and MIG welding use a shielding gas to create an inert atmosphere over the welding head. For TIG, the arc is made of a tungsten electrode, while for MIG, the electrode is a filler wire. Spot welding is done by sandwiching a part between a pair of electrodes and allowing an electric current to pass through.

Traditional welding methods transfer a lot of heat to the workpiece, which affects the metallurgical structure around the welded area.

Laser welding
A welding process that uses a laser beam to join metals or thermoplastics together. Welding is done by firing a series of short pulses that melt the metal to produce a high-quality weld. Since the laser is a concentrated heat source, the heat of the workpiece is minimized compared to conventional welding. In addition to this, thin materials can be welded and can be done quickly in meters per minute.

Advantages of Laser Welding
● Higher welding strength
In order for the weld to have high strength, a balance must be achieved and maintained between penetration and root pass width. The ratio of depth to width should not exceed 1 to 1.2. This ensures that shrinkage stresses are evenly distributed in all directions as the weld metal solidifies. The laser weld seam is not only narrow, but also meets the above-mentioned proportions well.

● Reduce the risk of thermometallurgical changes
In laser welding, the heated area is much smaller compared to conventional welding. Thermal stress can severely damage the workpiece by producing deformation and deflection. In laser welding, the total heating area does not spread to the rest of the workpiece, and it features rapid cooling to minimize thermal stress damage.

● Higher precision welding
The laser beam in laser welding can be tightly controlled to achieve microwelding, even on small workpieces. With an accuracy of 0.025mm compared to other welding processes, it will be hard to beat.

● less waste accumulation
Laser welding is an automated process where welding is controlled by computer input so you don't need to rely on the skills of a worker. This sums up very few welding errors compared to traditional welding where human error is widely observed.

● Cost-effective
Having shorter processing times results in higher productivity. Although the initial tool investment is costly, laser welding has proven to be cost-effective in the long run, making it a lucrative business venture.
